A couple weeks ago I hosted my second Favorite Things Party and invited some of my favorite mom friends who I knew could use a fun low-key night in. Have you ever attended one of these parties? I first discovered a Favorite Things Party from an old high school friend's blog and I knew I had to host one! The idea is to invite your friends to think of their favorite things and bring a specified number of those items (I chose five) to the party. I also put a price limit of $5 for each item. All the items are displayed, and upon arrival, each guest puts their name into the drawing five times. They will each go home with five new items. The concept is so fun and can be done in many different ways. This year, everyone drew their five names to make sure there were no duplicates and to make sure someone wasn't left with their own item. Then one at a time, each person explained their favorite thing and handed it out to the five ladies who's names they drew. No party would be complete without some yummy munchies and delicious drinks. I served up some chips and queso, barbecue meatballs, veggies and dip, fruit salsa (SO GOOD!) with cinnamon chips, lemon-blueberry cupcakes, and of course I had to get out the chocolate fountain with plenty of dip-able yummies. Hey, it is a Favorite Things Party, after all! I also found this fun drink recipe using ginger ale and frozen orange juice concentrate, which we may or may not have added some vodka to, and they were pretty to boot! This year I set up a small craft station with brown paper bags and some crafting tools for each guest to decorate their bag to take their new favorite's home with them. This was such a great addition this year! Aside from giving everyone a bag to tote their treasures, it was a great way for everyone to relax and chit-chat while their hands were busy. A few of the ladies were even introduced to some new crafting tools and materials, which is always a plus in my book! Now on to the favorite things! There were so many fun things, everyone went home with a great bag of goodies!
Aloe socks with Skinny Cow Chocolates, stamp rollers, carabiner tape measures, gift certificates to Summer Moon, a new coffee house in Buda and Austin. There was also Round Rock Donuts with Fair Trade Coffee, handmade soap and lotion balls, Lip Glosserie cuticle balm, Bath & Body Works Japanese Cherry Blossom lotion, Chuao Chocolates, Advocare snack bars & drink mix and mini potted faux succulents. Spending the evening with these lovely ladies was definitely good for the soul. We shared many laughs and even had a "small world" moment when two friends discovered they knew each other from other places. I can see this party becoming a summer tradition of mine - I always like to have a fun reason to throw a party spend time with people I care about!
