Party! St. Patty's Day Pot LUCK

Here lately I have been looking for pretty much any reason to throw a party. I think it really has to do with just wanting to see friends and spend time with people I love. It seems the older we get, the faster time goes by, and the busier we all are, the longer it is in between seeing the people we care about. Parties are a good way to remedy that, at least, I think so!

Back in March, we decided to throw a St. Patty's Day Pot LUCK with a few close friends. The weather was so nice, and we needed an "excuse" to light up the smoker. Aside from seeing friends and smoking meat, thanks to Pinterest, I had been dying to make one of those 7 layer rainbow cakes... and well, what better reason than St. Patty's Day?

So, we threw a little get together, complete with a pretty adorable little table setup. I made this banner to hang over the table, which I then moved to my mantle for the rest of the month.

The day, the company, and the food were all pretty fantastic... and my rainbow cake, well it was pretty amazing! I had so much fun making it and made a huge mess with those little tiny rainbow nonpareils! You can find lots of progress pictures over on my Instagram feed if you're interested!

Decorations were pretty simple for this low-stress bash. Lots of green and white and a hint of yellow. I love having fresh flowers when I entertain, they add such a nice touch. These lilies were at the peak of perfection for the occasion!

Our last little bit of fun came in the form of a photo booth with some fun props I downloaded and printed from The Dating Diva's. We had such a fun time, I am already starting to think of the next reason to have a little get together! (Not that you're surprised by that!)

Party! Nathan's LEGO Ninjago Themed Birthday

Here we are in the second year of LEGO® birthday parties at our house. Specifically the ninja characters of Ninjago. My son's seventh birthday party was a lot of fun, even with the freezing temperatures and pouring rain. We managed to entertain 8 kids and their parents INSIDE my house for a couple of hours and we all survived! My son even taught Ninja Class to his friends who learned a kick and a punch - each kiddo got a felt ninja belt in their choice of color upon entering the birthday dojo.

Our table scape and food were all pretty simple. I made it easy on myself this year and ordered pizza for the guests for lunch. I used all of the ninja colors for plates, napkins, and plasticware and made the round green ninja head cake. Sorry, no detail photo, it wasn't one of my best creations! My mom did make these ADORABLE ninja cookies though - they deserve a closeup!

The rain kept our ninjas from completing the obstacle course my husband setup outside (it looked awesome!), and the pinata would have been soaked, but we had some fun inside anyway. Aside from ninja class, we had a place to make paper throwing stars and a "Find Your Ninja Name" station, which made for some really good laughs. Most of the kids were thrilled to just play with our everyday toys. You know they are always more fun at someone else's house!

I made ninja eyes shirts for the birthday boy and his brother using my Silhouette Cameo. I love that I can cut out my own designs and make them into anything I want! I also printed and cut out eyes to place on solid color party hats.

All in all, the day was a fun one. I am thankful to have so many loving friends and family which is really what makes these parties special. And judging by the smile on my birthday boy's face, he would agree!
